National Exams

Currently, several tests are nationally available and approved in most jurisdictions. Remember, these tests are 'secured'. This means that no instructor is allowed to view the exam. Instructors are to cover the broad base of food safety basics, but have no way of covering all questions which may be found in a particular test. These tests are created by experts based on a detailed task analysis for a food service manager. Each test comes in several forms and is changed on a regular basis. Tests arrive to the instructor sealed and are returned sealed. They are graded by the testing company, not the instructor; certificates are prepared by the testing company. These tests are comprehensive in scope. Many years of experience in the field do not necessarily prepare the student for passing the exam.
